Bulgaria – one of the most peaceful countries in Europe – is becoming an attractive destination for global investors. The Bulgarian government has established a legal framework that allows investors to participate in the investment immigration program in Bulgaria. So, what does this legal framework for the Bulgarian investment immigration program entail?

LEGAL FRAMEWORK

The investment immigration program in Bulgaria is an official government initiative developed and enacted by the Ministry of Development and the Ministry of Interior. According to Article 25 of Bulgaria’s FRA Act of 2024: “Foreign investors who invest a minimum of €512,000 in fund shares or €1,024,000 in common stocks on the Bulgarian stock market will receive permanent residency in Bulgaria. Subsequently, under another provision of the residency law, five years after obtaining permanent residency, the individual may apply for Bulgarian citizenship.”
